Built in 1910 by Baldwin Locomotive Works as builder #34756 and #3 in a series of 3, this 0-8-0 locomotive originally served as DM&N #64, a road switcher for use at Proctor Yard and Duluth ore dock operations of the Duluth Missabe and Northern Railroad. It was later transferred to the Oliver Iron Mining Company as OIM #806 for mining and stripping operations at various Iron Range mines, and was last used in the Mt. Iron Open Pit Ore Mine north of this area from 1943 to 1955. The locomotive was moved to this location in 1990 for the Mt. Iron Centennial. It weighed 164,000 pounds, with a loaded tender weighing 90,000 pounds; the locomotive and tender measured 63 feet 2 inches long, the stack stood 15 feet 6 inches high, the locomotive was 9 feet 7 inches wide, the drive wheels were 51 inches in diameter, and its tractive power was 41,160 pounds. The tender held 7 tons of coal and 5,000 gallons of water, the boiler operated at 180 pounds pressure, and the cylinders had a 21-inch bore and 28-inch stroke. Its original owner from 1910 to 1926 was the Duluth Missabe and Northern Railroad, predecessor of the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railroad; its second owner from 1927 to 1955 was the Oliver Iron Mining Company, predecessor of United States Steel Corp.; and its current owner from 1956 to the present is the City of Mt. Iron.
