Sgt. Pleas P. Sanders received the Distinguished Service Cross and the French Croix de Guerre with gilt star for bravery in the battle for Hill 204 in the Aisne-Marne Defensive, and in other major campaigns in WWI. Following WWI, he served as Edmonson Co. Judge and, because of his love of home and country and his strong sense of comradery, he started the photo gallery in the hallway of the courthouse at the onset of WWII.
