The Kit Carson County Carousel is a three-row stationary machine whose animals do not go up and down. Its forty-six animals, four chariots, and forty-five oil paintings remain in original paint. A lion, tiger, dog, and hippocampus, along with goats, camels, giraffes, deer, and numerous wooden horses, march counterclockwise to the tunes of a 1909 Wurlitzer Monster Military Band Organ. It is owned by the people of Kit Carson County and is open daily from 11am to 6pm during June, July, and August.
