Boston Harbor’s Broad Sound Channel Inner Range Lights stood on the northern part of Spectacle Island as a pair of range lights guiding ships along the inner leg of the old northern approach from Broad Sound and marking the turn westward across the south side of President Roads. Established in 1903, the station had two wooden conical towers with fourth-order Fresnel lenses and keeper housing shared with the nearby Spectacle Island ranges. Their role reflected shifting harbor navigation: as dredging created newer preferred channels and older routes declined, neighboring range lights were discontinued. By about 1950 these lights too were removed, and later alteration of Spectacle Island erased the site entirely.
