In the late 1960s, Charles W. Boas, Ph.D., shaped his department's future as it initiated its first Baccalaureate program and the college's unique Foreign Cultures curriculum. He also created a special place at the college for the study of geography. Committed to both college and community, he served as President of the Academic Senate and as a Board Member of the Pennsylvania Geographical Society, and he was granted Emeritus status in 1993.
