Friends and residents of Wilson County, Kansas, erected and dedicated the courthouse clock memorial tower in 1965. The clock had originally been purchased in 1889 by local citizens and was almost lost when the old courthouse was razed in 1961. Gus A. Charlen purchased it and presented it to the Fredonia Business and Professional Women's Club, sponsors of the tower building project.
