Attorney Erastus Tousey (1798-1863) and his wife Catherine (1805-1895) built this grand residence c. 1822. It is one of the most academically correct examples of Federal style architecture in Northern Kentucky. Federal-period details include the paired gable-end chimneys, Flemish bond brickwork, brick jack arches above the windows and doors, and the fanlight transom over the front entrance. A private residence for most of its years, the Toûsey House has also been used as a tavern, general store, gift shop, and restaurant.
