Jerusalem Ridge, about half a mile south, became widely known through Bill Monroe's 1975 instrumental recording of the same name. Slightly higher than Pigeon Ridge, where the Homeplace stands, it was one of the places where Monroe family men went to hunt. Bill Monroe recalled fox-hunting there while growing up and said he had loved the area since childhood. In the 1920s, Bill and his father, J.B. Monroe, took their foxhounds to Jerusalem Ridge, turned them loose, and sat by a campfire listening to the dogs bark as they chased foxes. On one of those occasions, J.B. asked a friend with him if it was not the prettiest music he had ever heard.
