Gowanda Shrine Club No. 1, established on November 21, 1913, was the first continuously active Shrine Club in North America. Its home was dedicated as a symbolic foundation on which present and future Masons may build, set forth, and perpetuate Masonic principles embraced by all Masonic bodies as an exemplary code for living.
