John C. Taylor was honored in 1978 for distinguished service as Anderson County Clerk of Court from 1920 to 1932, congressman for South Carolina's Third District from 1933 to 1938, trustee of the University of South Carolina from 1946 to 1950, and state senator for Anderson County from 1951 to 1954 and 1959 to 1962. He served nation, state, and community with foresight and faithfulness, upheld the principles on which the nation was founded, and stood unafraid in defense of trust.
