Whatcom Falls Park is a two hundred forty-one-acre public park in Bellingham, Washington, where Whatcom Creek flows from Lake Whatcom toward Bellingham Bay through wooded trails, recreation areas, and four sets of waterfalls. Known for scenic viewpoints and everyday community use, it includes picnic shelters, athletic facilities, playgrounds, a pump track, a children’s fishing pond, and a trout hatchery operated for the state. Whirlpool Falls is a popular swimming spot despite its modest height because of the surrounding cliffs and deep pool. The park also carries the memory of the 1999 Olympic Pipe Line rupture, explosion, and fire that killed three people and burned forest land.
