Dunnville Barrens State Natural Area in south-central Dunn County, Wisconsin, protects a rare jack pine barrens and prairie mosaic within the larger Dunnville Wildlife Area. Set on a broad, sandy Chippewa River terrace, it includes dry barrens with scattered shrubs and sand prairie plants, as well as an eastern swale landscape where wet and dry prairie occur together. This mix supports notably diverse plant life, including little bluestem, purple prairie clover, big bluestem, Michigan lily, and Culver's root. The area also provides habitat for uncommon animals such as the gorgone checkerspot, Leonard's skipper, and the five-lined skink.
