Black Hammock Wilderness Area is a seven hundred-acre protected landscape in Seminole County, Florida, preserved by Seminole County and the Saint Johns River Water Management District as part of a larger effort to protect habitat along Lake Jesup and recharge areas for the Geneva Bubble aquifer. Its mixed hardwood swamp, sand pine scrub, and pine flatwoods support wildlife including barred owls, white-tailed deer, bobcats, and eastern hognose snakes. About four and a half miles of round-trip trails and a boardwalk allow hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, photography, and other outdoor use. Its wetlands also help filter water flowing toward Lake Jesup.
