Pyramid Peak
Nature
1
Pyramid Peak rises in the Crystal Range of California’s Sierra Nevada, west of Lake Tahoe, and stands as the highest point in the Desolation Wilderness. The mountain is part of a rugged alpine landscape distinguished by granite terrain and numerous lakes. Its best-known ascent, the Rocky Canyon route, climbs nearly 4,100 feet and is considered very arduous even though it is the most popular approach. Pyramid Lake at the mountain’s eastern base helps frame the peak within this dramatic high-country setting.
