The Lumber Shed
Industry
2
An original historic structure from the Washington Navy Yard campus, the Lumber Shed was a concrete, open-air building used to store and dry wood for making molds for ship construction. It was renovated and reopened in 2013 as the home offices of Forest City Washington on the second floor and ground-floor retail overlooking Yards Park. Designed to resemble a glow cube at night, it has become a familiar feature of the first phase of The Yards development.
