Dos Palmas Preserve is a 14,000-acre wildlife preserve in Riverside County's Colorado Desert, managed by the Bureau of Land Management within the Salt Creek Area of Critical Environmental Concern. It protects a rare desert oasis centered on wetlands fed by Coachella Canal seepage and artesian springs, including Dos Palmas Spring, which sustain pools, marshy ground, and abundant desert fan palms. This unusual wet habitat supports endangered species such as the Yuma rail, desert pupfish, and Orocopia sage, while also sheltering black rail and many other birds and desert animals. Its significance lies in preserving sensitive wetland life within a largely arid landscape.
