Clear Lake State Park is a 590-acre California state park on the shore of Clear Lake, established in 1949 and centered on water recreation. It has a marina, boat launch, swimming beach, 149 developed campsites in four campground areas, two group campsites, cabin rentals, hiking trails, and a visitor center on local natural and cultural history. Its shoreline is especially significant as an important breeding ground for grebes, protected by a broad no-wake zone near Cole Creek and the reedy shore that also favors canoeing and kayaking. Proposed for closure during California budget cuts in 2008 and 2009, the park remained open under reduced budgets.
