Dome Wilderness is a protected area in northern New Mexico on the Jemez Ranger District of Santa Fe National Forest. Established by Congress in 1980, it spans about 5,200 acres and adjoins the Bandelier Wilderness in Bandelier National Monument, helping form a larger protected landscape near Los Alamos. Accessible by paved and gravel roads, it includes trailheads with routes that connect into the national monument for longer hikes. Its highest ground lies near St. Peter's Dome. A major 1996 fire burned much of the area, creating a stark landscape, and numerous prehistoric sites reflect the region's long human history.
