During Morgan's Raid in Harrison County on July 8–9, 1863, Confederate dead included Pvt. Greene Bottomer, Pvt. John Dunn, Pvt. Albert Womack, and eight unknown dead, with forty wounded. Home Guard and citizen dead included James Currant, Jacob Ferree, Peter Glenn, William Heth, Isaac Lang, Nathan McKinzie, Jeremiah Nance, and Harrison Steepleton, with four wounded.
