· 1435 Highway 395
History
4
Originally the site of the I.O.O.F. hall built by Baptiste Borda at the turn of the 19th Century, the Adaven Building later served as a merchandise store, soda fountain, restaurant, hotel, and for a time a post office. With the advent of the automobile, gasolene could be purchased there. Although the building has been added to over the years, granite blocks made by the Carson City Penitentiary can still be seen in the structure. Adaven is "Nevada" spelled backwards.
