The 2022 inductees into the Ashland Baseball Hall of Fame at CP-1 were recognized as examples of baseball achievement in the Ashland area. The hall, founded in 2015, honors those whose experience in the sport reached a very high level and positively influenced others. The inductees were David Cox, an outfielder for the 1968 state champion Tomcats and the 1969 state runner-up team; Scott Crawford, a power hitter from Little League through American Legion who was on the 1986 Ashland American Little League state championship team and later starred for the Tomcats from 1975 to 1977; Steve Hall, a standout Tomcats player who graduated in 1972, later coached Ashland baseball in the 1980s, and played catcher at Morris Harvey in Charleston, West Virginia; Omar Henry, an all-around athlete and dominant pitcher in Little League and for the Tomcats who also pitched for UK and was on the 1990 Ashland American Little League state championship team; Greg Jackson, an athletic third baseman for the Tomcats from 1974 to 1976 who later graduated from West Point; Charlie McDowell, a leading youth coach in Ashland whose Babe Ruth teams regularly won championships; Jason Stein, a second baseman for the 1986 Ashland American Little League state champions who later starred with the Tomcats and Post 76 and went on to coach at Eastern Kentucky University and Duke University; Mark Swift, an all-around athlete who played shortstop and was a clutch hitter for the Tomcats from 1975 to 1977; Herb Wamsley, a versatile athlete who starred at catcher and second base for the Tomcats, also played for Post 76 and Ashland's Stan Musial team, and graduated in 1977; and Rick Wenning, a hard-throwing Tomcats pitcher who graduated in 1973, later pitched for David Lipscomb and the University of Kentucky, and was regarded as one of the best pitchers in the park during the 1970s.
