Lidtke Mill, or the Lime Springs Mill Complex, is a historic mill and miller’s house in Lime Springs, Iowa, on the Upper Iowa River. Set within ten-acre Lidtke Park, the limestone mill with yellow brick veneer was completed in 1857 and rebuilt after a fire in 1894. In addition to grinding grain, it once produced hydroelectric power for nearby communities, and its control-room floor still bears footprints said to have been left by a worker nearly electrocuted there. The adjacent house also dates to 1857, with later additions. Together, the buildings reflect the site’s evolution from an industrial property to a preserved museum and event setting.
