The Old Federal Road was established by the Treaty of 1805 between the United States and the Cherokee Nation. It began at the Tellico Blockhouse on the Little Tennessee River and extended to Vann’s Ferry on the Chattahoochee River in North Georgia. Along this road, Col. Gideon Morgan’s Cherokee Regiment marched to join Andrew Jackson in the Creek War of 1813.
