Glenda J. Kovarik faithfully served the Village of Glen Carbon as an elected official, holding the office of Village Clerk from 1968 to 1993. During her 25 years of service, the village transitioned from a small former coal mining community into a progressive suburban municipality. She was deeply dedicated to Glen Carbon and its citizens, and residents loved and respected her, often referring to her as "Glenda Carbon." The Covered Bridge was also recognized as one of her dreams, and when it was completed in 1976 after being built by volunteers from Glen Carbon, she truly cherished it. She is honored for her significant contributions to the Village of Glen Carbon.
