In the 21st century, South Bethany has been marked by community events, beach and water stewardship, local business milestones, and recovery from storms. An aerial view from 2016, Ocean Drive art programs, boat parades promoting creativity and fun, annual Earth Day events focused on water quality, the South Bethany Women's Club annual fashion show, yoga on the beach, movie nights on the beach, boot camp on the beach, New Year's Day Polar Plunge activities, and police-sponsored Walk Smart events reflect civic and recreational life. Beach replenishment in 2008 restored the beaches, Super Storm Sandy hit South Bethany in 2012, the SBPOA started Neighborhood Watch in 1992, the Adopt-A-Canal End Program beautified the town, McCabe's Gourmet Market marked its 30th anniversary in 2016, Little Free Library East and West opened, and York Beach Mall served as South Bethany's business center.
