Union Church was established in 1825 on land given by Isaac Carter. The church burned in 1854, and since then it has been commonly called Burnt Church. Union Church Cemetery honors those who rest there, many of whom were members of Union Church. The cemetery was deeded to trustees in 1996, and the deed was recorded at the Lanier County Clerk’s Office.
