The Greater St. Louis Air and Space Museum in Cahokia Heights, Illinois, preserves historic aircraft, spacecraft-related artifacts, and flight education materials while also occupying a building with deep aviation roots. Incorporated in July 1982, it first operated at Spirit of St. Louis Airport and moved to St. Louis Downtown Airport in 2005 after a flood. Its home, Curtiss Wright Hangar No. 2, was completed in March 1930 and later served corporate aviation, a flying school, and Parks College flight operations. With aircraft, training equipment, and a historic hangar listed with its neighbor on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum reflects the long aviation history of the St. Louis area.
