History

Louis Andreas, a member of the Michel LaFamboise 1832 Hudson's Bay fur brigade, camped nearby while working his way back home to Oregon's Willamette region. After he died during the night, his Negro slave and traveling companion buried him here with his boots and surveyor's chains, then planted the rose bush they were carrying from Virginia. This was the first known burial in what would become Liberty Cemetery.
