The Parsonage Barn was built in 1867 and is the only building on these grounds that remains at its original location. It is an original fachwerk barn, using a construction method typical of Pommerania, the region from which the settlers of Freistadt emigrated. This style features exposed wood beams with large open areas filled with brick, stone, or clay and straw, then covered with plaster. Many fachwerk buildings suffered because the settlers, building as they had in Germany, did not account for Wisconsin conditions; Pommerania's mild winters meant frost did not penetrate the soil as deeply, and earlier foundations were unintentionally dug too shallow. The barn's west wing was added in 1906. Just south of the barn, a house stands on the site of the original parsonage built for Pastor Krause, the first pastor of Trinity Freistadt Church; the present house there was built in 1894 and was used as a teacherage.
