Swan's Landing Archeological Site is an important Early Archaic site on the Ohio River in southern Indiana, largely buried beneath deep alluvium in the floodplain. Known locally by the early 1960s and formally published in 1982, it suffered heavy damage from digging, soil washing, and erosion worsened by higher water levels after changes at Cannelton Locks and Dam. Archaeological work in the 1980s found extensive deposits, hearths, charcoal, and many stone tools and unfinished pieces, mostly of local Wyandotte chert. The evidence shows repeated use as a place where skilled people manufactured and reduced stone for tools, making it one of eastern North America's most significant Early Archaic sites.
