Soldiers who died while serving their country at Fort Larned, Kansas, between 1859 and 1878 were originally buried in the post cemetery, and in 1888 their remains were relocated to Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Section B, where they were not identified. Among the men who perished at or near Fort Larned and whose remains may now be buried at Fort Leavenworth were Elliot W. Adams, Henry Bach, Charles B. Backus, George W. Baker, Thomas Bennin, James F. Burton, John Carpenter, Charles Cotton, James Cox, Cornelius Cutter, George Drake, Patrick Driskell, George Evans, Joseph S. Fields, Finley Fair, Richard Fulkerson, David Gordon, Alick Harold, George Harrison, James Hatchett, Isaac A. Helm, William Hickey, Hezekiah Hickman, Frank Hughes, Gilbert Hyatt, Samuel L. Hybarger, James Johnston, Joseph Kuhn, Justin Longley, Francis M. Lynn, Thomas Mahony, August W. Markert, William Marvis, Joseph R. Mattock, John McCarthy, Michael McGillicuddy, James B. McIntyre, William H. Moore, Riley Morrison, Patrick Mullaly, John North, James O'Brien, Jasper N. Piercy, Jacob Pottorf, John Regan, William Z. F. Rhodes, Joseph W. Richardson, William Rossen, George Sauer, James Schofield, George Shepherd, Louis Sondheimer, Algernon M. Squiam, James Swisher, James Symonds, Edward J. Tisher, Henry Turner, John White, Franklin Whitson, John Williams, David Wright, and Harrison H. Wright. Unknown individuals also remain there, along with about 40 civilians who perished at or near Fort Larned, and Little Heart, a Cheyenne brave, was the only known Indian to perish at Fort Larned.
