At this wagon road junction on the Carson Trail, travelers reached a fork where the left-hand road led to Sutter's Fort and the right-hand road to Coloma. On August 11, 1849, James A. Pritchard recorded that his party took the right-hand fork, went through Wevervill, and continued farther to Hang Town.
