The Culbertson Mansion is a French Second Empire style structure whose construction began in 1867 for William Stewart Culbertson (1814-1892), a leading industrialist, financier, and philanthropist in the New Albany area. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, accepted as a state-owned historic site in 1976, and became part of the Mansion Row Historic District in 1983.
