Hutchison House
History
6
After the Lynn Haven Hotel burned in 1929, one of its cottages was moved by barge to this site and pulled on rollers by mule into place as the west wing of the home. In 1934, the east wing was completed. The home is unusual for Florida because it has a basement. It was the home of Judge Ira Hutchison, a prominent Panama City attorney who signed the papers to incorporate Panama City in 1909, and his wife, Theodora Farris Hutchison. The location was also the site of the first Pioneer Picnic in 1940.
