Buzzards Peak Wilderness is a federally protected wilderness area in Imperial County in southeastern California, established by the U.S. Congress in 2019 and managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Part of the lower Colorado Desert, it lies near Milpitas Wash Wilderness, Indian Pass Wilderness, the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, and the Colorado River. Its desert habitat supports cholla and beavertail cactus, ocotillo, palo verde, acacia, ironwood, and the rare California ditaxis. Recorded wildlife includes desert tortoise, Yuma kingsnake, Colorado River toad, Great Plains toad, tree lizard, burros, mule deer, and mountain lion. It forms part of a broader network of conserved desert landscapes in southeastern California.
