Lake Lowndes State Park in eastern Mississippi, about eight miles southeast of Columbus, is a public recreation area centered on the 150-acre Lowndes Lake. Built around water-based recreation and overnight stays in a rural setting, it offers boating, waterskiing, and fishing, along with primitive and developed campsites, cabins, and cottages. The park also has seven miles of hiking and equestrian trails, picnic areas, and the 18-hole Whispering Pines disc golf course. Its facilities extend beyond many small lake parks, including a visitors center with a gymnasium, tennis courts, and play fields, making it a multi-use destination for day visitors and campers.
