Pasco County, Florida, honors the 1,860 military veterans whose home of record was the county and who served during World War II, crossing both great oceans to reach continents where they fought to free the world from tyranny and oppression without knowing when or whether they would return. Dedicated on Flag Day, June 14, 1948, and re-dedicated on June 14, 2014, this remembrance includes the names of African-American veterans from Pasco County on panels 11 and 12, where they remain listed separately by the choice of those veterans, their descendants, and the community to reflect the historical significance of their distinguished service in segregated units despite racial discrimination, and it also includes an honor roll of the county's dead and missing.
