John M. Schofield commanded the Army of the Ohio, the right wing of Sherman’s forces on the Kennesaw front, here from June 22-30, 1864, while directing the flanking march of the 23d A.C. south on the Sandtown Road. Cox’s 3d Div. camped here and supported Hascall’s 2d Div. near the McAdoo house in the Battle of Kolb’s Farm. Sherman inspected the right of the Kennesaw line here on June 23 and 25.
