Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry, Connecticut, is a late eighteenth-century house museum on the Hale family site, though Nathan Hale himself lived only in an earlier house there. The property preserves a powerful link to Hale through the trunk returned to his family after his capture and execution by the British during the American Revolution. After the farm left Hale family hands, its connection to him faded until George Dudley Seymour bought and restored the neglected house in 1914, filled it with Connecticut antiques, and renewed public remembrance of Hale. Today it serves as both a museum of domestic life and a memorial to Connecticut’s state hero.
