In 1851 the first railroad station in Glen Ellyn was built on this site by Dr. E Q Newton for the Chicago Galena and Union Railway. The depot served the Chicago and North Western Railway from 1864 to 1895. It was then replaced by a "new" station located a few yards to the east.
