Sweat Mountain, a one thousand six hundred eighty-eight-foot peak in northeastern Cobb County, Georgia, is the county’s second-highest point and an important divide between the Chattahoochee and Etowah river basins. Natural rock formations remain near its summit, but its height has also made it a major communications hub for broadcast, mobile, and amateur radio equipment in metro Atlanta. The mountain was once entirely owned by the Wigley family, and its summit formerly held a U.S. Forest Service fire tower. Local roads, a music festival site, and nearby parks preserve its name, while an F1 tornado brushed its south side in early April 2006 with only minor damage.
