Woodbury Ski Area was a small ski resort in northwestern Connecticut, about two hours from New York City, that provided local winter recreation through downhill skiing and snow tubing. Opened in 1972 by Olympic skier Rod Taylor, it became widely known among local residents as “Rod’s.” Its slopes were served by a chairlift and several surface lifts, and Taylor took pride in its frequent status as Connecticut’s first ski area to open each season. The resort closed in 2016 after a drought and has not reopened, though the property has been purchased and efforts to make it operational again have reportedly begun.
