Bridgeville veterans across generations shared a common goal of protecting their country's freedoms and are remembered as symbols of heroism, sacrifice, loyalty, and freedom. Korean War veterans fought for peace in places such as Heartbreak Ridge and Inchon, endured harsh winters and summer heat, were often greatly outnumbered, and continued fighting, with many giving their lives for freedom, justice, and peace. Vietnam veterans went to war as young people, lost youthful dreams and sometimes their lives for freedom and honor, returned carrying the horrors of war, and did not receive the respect and honor they deserved from the public or the United States government.
