Alva Bunker was born in 1901 with no hands or legs. At 16, his life was transformed when Toledo Rotary provided him with prosthetic legs and sent him to school. His success inspired Rotary's ongoing international efforts to help disabled children. His role in history was long forgotten, and his grave in Willow Cemetery was unmarked.
