One and one-quarter miles northwest is the site where Governor Stevens held a council with Nisqually, Puyallup, and Squaxon Indians on December 24–26, 1854; a bronze tablet was placed there by the Sacajawea Chapter D.A.R., and this stone was erected by the Washington State Historical Society in 1922.
