John A. Finch Arboretum is a 56.65-acre public arboretum in Spokane’s West Hills, established in 1949 with $250,000 from the John A. Finch estate. Set in a small valley carved by Garden Springs Creek, it serves as both a park and botanical garden, with its landscape following the creek between Interstate 90 and the Sunset Highway. Its plantings include about 2,000 trees and shrubs, including lilac groups, a rhododendron grove, and conifer and maple collections. The grounds also feature a nature trail and the Touch and See Nature Trail, helping preserve the arboretum as a free, sheltered urban green space.
