DeSoto Falls is a 104-foot waterfall on the West Fork of the Little River near Mentone in northeastern Alabama. Within DeSoto State Park, the river plunges into a small canyon shaped over time by the falls themselves. Named for the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto, the site is known not only for its scenic beauty but also for extreme kayaking, as paddlers descend the drop. It remains one of the region’s notable natural attractions, valued for both its landscape and its role in adventure recreation.
