The Oconee Electric Membership Corporation honored founders whose vision transformed this rural area from darkness to the splendor of light and who serve as a reminder that no job is too difficult if the cause is just and the people are determined. The incorporators were Paul J. Jones, Joseph R. Lord, T.C. Waldrep, James L. Whitaker, J.L. Allen, M.B. Beall, and G.C. Ingram, who was project superintendent.
