Curt Gowdy State Park is a 3,395-acre recreation area in the foothills of Wyoming’s Laramie Mountains between Cheyenne and Laramie, centered on Granite Springs, Crystal, and North Crow reservoirs. Established in 1971 as Granite State Park and renamed in 1972 for Wyoming-born sportscaster and outdoorsman Curt Gowdy, it later expanded in 2005 to include additional reservoir and canyon lands. Known for its extensive trail network and water-based recreation, the park offers biking, hiking, horseback riding, boating, fishing, camping, and more. Trail improvements begun in 2006 brought national recognition, helped expand hiking routes, and contributed to sharply rising visitation and a new visitor center in 2014.
