Near Bethlehem, Georgia, about 3.5 miles southwest of town, the Kilgore Mill Covered Bridge crossed the Apalachee River at a historic mill site. Built in 1894, the covered road bridge carried traffic on a single-span Town lattice truss measuring 117 feet long. It was also known as the Bethlehem Bridge, the Apalachee River Bridge, and the Briscoe Mill Bridge. Recognized for its historic significance, the bridge and mill site were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Arson destroyed the bridge on April 23, 1993, and it no longer stands.
